Question

Record levels

Hello,

When recording a single mono audio track, it seems that I can't check the mic level in the booth unless I am actually recording. It does seem to work when laying down a multi track. After you arm record a seleted track in multi track mode, you can check the levels with out actually having to record anything. Is there a way to do this in single audio track mode. Would make life a lot easier.

Many thanks from little ole NZ town.

You mean in Waveform view? Easy. Right-click on the meters and select...

It's worth noting a couple of things: Firstly that right-clicking almost anywhere in Audition is likely to bring up all sorts of useful things that you didn't realise were there, and secondly - it's a lot safer recording even single mono files in Multitrack view, which uses a much more reliable direct-to-disk mechanism, rather than Waveform's 'temp file first' method.

    Wow, so easy.

I knew there must have been a way to do it. I'm a bit of a greenhorn. I didn't know that about the multitrack V single track direct to disk mechanism. Thanks for a speedy reply and for solving all my problems in one.

    Very grateful.
