Recorded w/ Incorrect Device Class

Hey there,

Is there a way to fix an audio recording that was recorded in the wrong Device Class?

We recorded a 1 hour podcast with the Behringer Xenyx X1204USB in Adobe Audition. Unfortunately we didn't do a test first (I know, I know, don't kill me), and when we listened to the recording, it sounded like aliens talking (choppy, weird pitch). We traced it down to the source: our device class in "Audio Hardware" settings was set to "WASAPI", when it was supposed to be "MME". So back to my question: is there some sort of process that might restore this file to something somewhat normal? Or is is essentially irreparable?

Thank you!

I'm afraid not - Audition records what it's sent, and if the data gets that garbaged, there's simply nothing that can be done about it. Your problem here is that there's no reference to what it should have sounded like, and that's why there are no cures for distortion, whatever causes it.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply! That makes sense, unfortunate as it may be. I'll make sure we are in MME from now on. Thanks again!
