Recording but no talkback

Question

Recording using audition, and all the audio works perfectly when we are actually recording onto the track. But between takes we are not able to hear the actor in the recording booth.
Red R is on, orange I is on, and everything works perfect when recording directly onto the track.

It was recording fine earlier and then just stopped working.

Hi, with R and I on, please check the setting that controls hearing the booth mic between takes: Smart monitoring. It automatically enables input monitoring during recording and when the transport is stopped, so you can hear the input while stopped — exactly the between-takes case.

Go to Adobe Audition > Preferences > Multitrack, and turn on Enable smart monitoring.

If that box is already on, please let us know whether the track meters move between takes — that will help narrow it down.
