Recording from laptop doesnt work with headphones on

Hi,

So I have a new laptop and I have some trouble recording audio from my laptop. With this I mean the function when the input is stereo. It works when I put the sound on, but once I put on my headphones (which is preferably), it doesn't record. Anyone else had this problem and how to solve it?
