Recurring issue of losing project files

I am running the current program and Mac OS and am repeatedly losing project files.

I always save before I quit, but every so often when I go to open from recent files I get "The file .... could not be found. Press browse to locate...." and when I look for it, it's not there.

I see the backups, of course, but that does not seem like a good solutions because it seems like I will lose work here and there which... would be prohibitive.

So what's up with that?

Files failing to link upon re-opening sessions in the current release is a known-about problem. Fortunately there's a solution available, and that is to download the beta version of Audition from the CC app. and this keeps track of them properly. The only difference with the beta version is that usage is tracked, and there are a couple of other diagnostic features as well, but you can ignore these.

Are there really that many things I could be doing?

I'm saving and closing.

Then opening.

File no there.

You're saying it's more likely an issue with HOW I'm clicking file > save, than it turns out dev didn't fix a known-about problem like they thought they did?

And it should not matter where the files are stored. I keep them all in the same place, in a file specifically for audition, just like I do for all the other adobe problems, on my computer ha. There is no reason I can imagine files should just... disappear. I could imagine being told I'm not saving properly if a program is particularly fragile and just can't find them. But to be nowhere on my computer?

No I'm not saying how, I'm saying where - and it is significant. It does matter where files are stored. If you are, for instance, attempting to store files directly to any remote location (like Dropbox, or whatever) then the chances are that the direct path may not be available at the instant Audition thinks it should be, and the load will fail. There are also potentially permission issues with file locations - have you checked into the permissions on the folder you are using?

Part of your problem here is that you, for some reason, really aren't telling me very much. And I am reluctant to get the developers to look at this until we've established - in some detail - exactly what's happening on your machine, because I don't think your experience is typical. If it was, then we would have heard far more about it from a lot more users since the updated release, and we haven't.

The only way that anybody in Engineering fixes problems properly is by understanding them first, and to do that requires as much information about the problem as possible, whether the end user thinks it's relevant or not. We are trying to help you here; you're not making it easy.

Alrighty I'll give that a try, but I'm betting that with the tested version having the issues I'm having with it, a beta will be worse lol.

Doesn't work like that! And anyway, that beta is now the released version so all you need to do is upgrade.
