Red recording and playback line skips; doesn't scan smoothly.

Question

I've just encountered this problem in the past few days. The red recording and playback line (sorry, don't know the technical term for this feature) doesn't scan smoothly. It skips sporadically. While I have no difficulty recording or hearing playback, it makes editing somewhat difficult. Also, there appears to be momentary delays whenever I perform an editing function (e.g., silencing, deleting). By the way, I just use Adobe Audition CC for VOs. No music tracks. Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?

We need to know quite a bit more about your computer system before we can even guess at what's going on. What platform and operating system are you using? Which version of Audition CC? This sounds most likely to be a graphics redrawing problem. If you are on one of the latest versions of Audition CC2018 you could try going to Preferences/General and untick the box 'Use hardware acceleration for drawing'.
