Remove Yay Woos! from a soundtrack

I made several shorts of a classic aircraft making low level passes, it was so low and loud the soundtrack clipped (looking at the envelope)

I don't mind that, as even clipped 4 x Merlin's sound amazing, what I do want to improve is the two viewers in front of me yay woo ing over the Merlins.

Canon EOS 5D MKII and Rode stereo video mic worked really well. I'm an absolute beginner with Prem Pro but getting to grips with it.

Does anyone know of a method of cutting out the speech from a sound track, effectively erasing that part, I am sure this is possible but don't know how.

Nothing against the cheering but I really think the engines should be clear of comment, Happy that then end of the clip spectators clap but would like to take out the spurious cheers.

Any suggestions?

Yes it works. In Audition, you can 'paint out' most of this in the spectral display, but it's going to be quite a time-consuming job to get all of it accurately, and just leave the plane. It's the sort of job that iZotope's RX can do better (it's specialised software for this purpose) - I'll have a look at it with that in the morning.

Okay, I've looked at it, and even with RX it's hard work to get all the individual bits out, even just over a few seconds; RX finds all the voice harmonics, but you have to be really careful about how many you attenuate at any given point. And you have to do it in small chunks at a time. To do this in Audition, whilst it might be technically possible, would absolutely drive you round the bend! So, with a little judicious spectral copying (and none of this is perfect, as I did it quite quickly) it now sounds like this:

    Dropbox - crop-merlin minus woo-hoo.wav

If it doesn't work, let me know - Dropbox is being a bit strange today...

Can you post a short uncompressed (ie, wav) section of your file with the whoops in? There are a couple of things you might be able to do, but it would be easiest if we could see the problem, and try a couple of them, I feel. (You have to use something like Dropbox with a public link, as the forum doesn't support audio uploads - go figure...)

Probably isn't a perfect solution ... but for the best help with this sort of thing the Audition forum would be the best choice I think.
