Sample rate error input/output. Unable to reset...

I just installed CS6 and when I try to record I get "the sample rate of the audio input and output devices do not match. Audio cannot be recorded until this is corrected".

The problem I am having is that one of the devices is 'greyed out' so I can not change it to match the other device. And the other device doesn't offer the sample rate of the device that is greyed out. So what can I do. One is 44,100hz and the other is 48,000hz.

I am using Steinberg for recording interface. Below you can see it is grayed out at 44100hz.

Now if I go to my playback, it shows only one option, i.e 48000hz option.

    Well, one thing I'd do is go to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware in Audition and make sure the proper driver and device is set there--and also the Master clock set to whichever side of the device is at the correct sample rate.

    Second, are you using Steinberg's ASIO drivers?  It could simply be the way Steinberg do it but those menus look suspiciously like MME to me, possibly even the built in interface on your computer.

    I think Bob's right - that doesn't look like any sort of ASIO setting panel at all!

    Firstly, make sure that you've installed the Steinberg ASIO driver. Then in Audition go to Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware and in the Device Class line, select ASIO. Then in 'Devices' you should see the Steinberg listed - select that.

    This will give Audition access to all of the available ports on whatever device you've got and you shouldn't have any mismatch problems. If you can specify exactly which interface it is, then we could be a bit more specific about what you have to do - certainly with the USB devices there's an ASIO setup page. As far as I'm aware, Steinberg devices handle all bit rates.
