Sampling and Bit rates

Question

Hello All,I'm running Adobe Audition CS6 and recording voice only with some added compression afterwards.For best sound quality, what should my Sample Rate and Bit Depth be for cold voice?  Also, doeschoosing Gentle and Narrow compression over Heavy and Wide means it's a lower compressions rez?I find choosing the H&W makes it sound quite tinny.  Thanks in advance for your help.Rocky

It all depends upon what you want the recording for. If you want to retain the maximum clarity, and you make the recording carefully, then 44.1k 16-bit recording is fine. If it's for video, then the de facto standard is to record at 48k. Pick the compression you use to get the sound you are aiming for - we can't tell you exactly what to do for two reasons; 1) All audio is different 2) We haven't heard a sample of it, and even if we had, we don't have your ears!
