Seeking Efficient Audio Editing Techniques for Multi-Speaker Content
I need advice from those with more experience in audio editing.
Based on my experience, I consider myself an amateur at best. My typical process for editing content involving 8-13 people, each with varying microphone audio quality and volume levels, is as follows:
1. Leveling the Audio: I start by leveling the audio to -3dB.
2. Volume Adjustment: Since 2 or 3 people are usually much quieter than others, I use the amplitude and compression feature, selecting the Speech Volume Leveler. This helps bring those quieter voices up to a clear, audible level.
3. Noise Reduction and Editing:
• Previously, I applied a general de-noise filter to the entire track, then listened through the track to cut out gaps, breathing sounds, and other unwanted noises, using the eraser tool for mouse clicks. However, I had to stop using the general de-noise option because it often altered the vocal clarity due to inconsistencies in the microphones.
• My new approach is to use the Noise Reduction (Process) tool. While listening to the entire track, I stop to capture and remove any unwanted noise, applying the reduction only to small sections at a time. This method works but is extremely time-consuming since similar frequencies in different areas can cause issues.
I would appreciate any tips or techniques that could help me speed up my editing process while still producing decent audio quality.
