Separate two speakers in one audio track?

Hi there. I have a podcast episode recorded, but I messed up.. I only have 1 audio track, but two speakers. Now, luckily we never talked over each other, plus I have a deep voice and my partner does not. I kinda need to have an audio track for each one of us to be able to master it, is there any way I can automate it? If not, I might just cut the track by hand, but it's a pretty long episode (and if I manage to mess it up again in the future..) so if there was a way to separate them that would be pretty cool. I tried to use automatic speaker detection ai but honestly I'd rather not pay extra 60 bucks for one audiofile.

If you haven't spoken over each other, and it's just levels you want to normalize, then you could try using Audition's Speech Volume Leveler and see if that helps - it will almost certainly make it easier to listen to, I would have thought.

If you are going to try cutting it manually (which is probably the only way you'll end up with a mistake-free version) then the thing to do is to put the track into a multitrack session. There you have several possible approaches, but the one I'd go for is firstly to lock the track in time, to prevent slippages and keep the timing straight, and then highlight each person's contribution in turn, with the mouse. If you use Ctrl-K (right click, and Split option) you can then drag that section you've just split to a new track. You can do what you like at that point. Once you get into the swing of this, it's pretty quick. Works equally well with mono and stereo recordings, too.
