Side Chain in Interview Situation - Problem

Hi there,

this is my first post ever in a forum like this but I think I´m going mad... I got plenty of years of audio engineering under my belt but recently switched to Audition because Logic Pro X refused to split stereo interleaved files to dual mono and I decided to give audition a try.

I am pretty pleased with the layout and UI and everything but I came across a very peculiar problem with sidechaining.

My situation is a interview situation with 2 lavalier mics:

I am trying to put the dynamic processor plugin on both channels and cross-sidechaining them. So when Person A speaks Person B gets lower and vice versa...

Problem 1 is whenever I put a send from one to the other, the other option gets grayed out. So when there is a sidechaining active on Person B I cannot send a sidechain back to Person A.... which is very peculiar. I totally understand this logic on normal Bussends, but maybe someone knows a workaround for this...

Problem 2 is that I cannot get the effects processing to work properly. Both the signal meter and the effects work as if there was no Sidechaining present.

I watched some videos and read the manual but both do not mention my problems here...

I hope someone can help.

I've never done this with crossed side chains, what do you expect to happen if they both speak?

well actually they never do... they were very disciplined...

but considering your question - do you think I might be a bit too fixated on this cross ducking idea?

Back in the days when I was a TV sound mixer I always left the 'presenters' mic open, they were likely to have the louder voice but rode the interviewees to reduce the colouration from the host.

I solved problem 2 but problem 1 still gives me headaches...
