Slow Exporting to MP3

I have updated to Audition CC2017, and I am trying to change the bitrate on a file when it is being exported to an MP3. It is taking almost 2hrours for a 43 min audio recording. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this just the way it is?

I have been exporting to MP3 with no problems before extremely quick. But I haven't changed the bitrate before as now I am trying to save space for a podcast.

Thanks for any help

Walt

I don't know what was going on but deleting the program and reinstalling it a couple of times worked.

    Thanks for the help

It shouldn't be any different. The only thing I can say about changing bit rates is that if you do it starting from an existing MP3, it's going to take a longer time anyway, as it has to be decoded and re-encoded, which results in a significant quality loss. But certainly not as long as it's taking on your machine. And if as you say, you have just changed the save rate you are using from a master file, this shouldn't be taking long at all. What's the time duration of the file you are trying to save?

I am more confused now SteveG, I saved a 32 min file on my wife's computer which has Audition cc2017 also and it worked fine.

Mine is still slow, same settings for both. Any suggestions.

My computer is newer and faster than hers also.

    Thank you for the response
