Soloing Tracks while recording

Question

Hi can anyone tell me how to solo a track while recording? I want to be able to actively monitor one track at a time. I can do it in playback but does not seem to be working while tracking. I am using Windows and a focusrite clarrett interface.

I've just tested it here, and it works, but... only if you set Edit>Preferences>Multitrack>Track Solo to exclusive before you start the session. If you try to alter it from non-exclusive on an existing session, then for some reason, on at least one session here, it screwed up both the solo and muting on the first track. But if you set it first before creating the session, then using the solo buttons works fine during recording, and you get exclusive tracks played back.
