sort order
Is there a way of turning off sort order so that I can arrange a series of clips in the order I want in the files window, rather than them defaulting to alphabetical order.

You can't turn off Sort Order altogether but you can use any of the other various column headers to sort by such as Open Order or Access Order. Just left click in the column header to sort on that one, up or down. Right clicking on in the header area will show a drop down menu of all available columns, some of which you may not have shown.
