Hi if I just want to download simple sound effects audio files to play with like close doors or low frequency where do I go to download that is safe?

+1 for freesound.org.  I get a lot of stuff from there (and there are even some of the effects I've recorded on the site!)

If I can't find what I need on the free site, the other staple is Download Sound Effects | SoundDogs.com   They're not free but individual effects aren't too expensive and both the range and quality is excellent.

Another paid source of effects is John Leonard Sound Effects Library   John has been designing sound and recording his own effects for years and is often a good source for off beat things.

Finally, included in your Audition subscription is a small collection of effects you can download here:  Adobe Audition Sound Effects

Personally, my favourite effects are ones I record for myself and edit in Audition.   I just wish I had time for more of that!
