Hello everybody.

I have one concerns, I am an editor and I got back an interview made by Skype in which there was a problem of transmission of the sound. It can't have been resolved at the time of the recording for lack of time of the interlocutor. Can we do anything in post--prod? I don't in which direction to manage me to solve at least partially the problem.

I join an extract of the sound wav :

Thank you in advance for your help.

That sounds as though it's been massively noise/reduced - and no, there's not a single, solitary thing you can do about that file at all. It is comprehensively stuffed, I'm afraid.

Even if you could hear it okay, you couldn't improve it, as everything that comes from skype calls is inherently distorted, and you can't fix distortion, simply because you have no reference as to what it should have sounded like.

And indeed that's the solution to recording Skype interviews - get the distant source to make a local recording of what they're saying and get them to send it to you. Then replace the Skype track with that. With care it can sound as though the person's in the studio with you, or if you really want them to sound distant, you can use a much cleaner 'telephone' effect on it.
