Sound Quality at Import

Question

I am a Audition user and I'm experiencing problems with an audio file that I've imported into the editing platform. The original file's audio quality is ok, but when it is imported into the software it degrades into something that is unworkable, as the file becomes muffled and extremely noisy. I opened the same file in a multitrack session and I was given a prompt that told me that I had unmatched sample rates as well. I'm looking to get this resolved!

What is the original type and format of the file?

All that the unmatched sample rates message means is that the sample rate of your file doesn't match the sample rate of your session, and that to import it, a copy would have to be made at the session sample rate, and that used instead.
