Speeding up playback and saving with markers / Interpret Sample Rate grayed out

Hi,

Edit > Interpret Sample Rate is grayed out.

Method (A). I'm trying to speed up the playback of a file so that I can log it for a podcast faster. I do this in Waveform by (1) changing Interpret Sample Rate and (2) adding markers. When I want to edit in MultiTrack, I save the track with the markers and open in Multitrack (I think, I haven't gotten this to work yet). However, I can't speed up the playback within the Waveform mode, because Interpret Sample Rate is grayed out.

Method (B). I also know that you can speed up playback in the Multitrack mode by (1) enabling global stretching, (2) stretching the track to less than 100% and then (3) adding markers. However, this method does not work well. After 1, 2, and 3, when I (4) stretch the track to 100%, the markers do not move with the stretched audio.

Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Daniel

The only thing you can do is treat this as two separate operations, I think. Speed up playback in waveform view, and add the markers. If you put markers at each end of sections you want, then turn these into marker ranges and give them names, you can export those as separate clips into a multi-track session, although I suspect that you'll have to reset the playback rate first (this is unconfirmed). These are basic marker panel operations, and it's more or less the way Audition is intended to be used, although other options are available...

If you just put markers in the file, and open it in a multi-track session, then those markers will only show in the file as dotted lines, and won't relate to the session timeline at all. They can't, as they are all file-specific, and of course you can move that file around. That's generally why the 'export what you want as clips' method is preferred.

Yes, I'm afraid that if the file is open in the Multitrack view then you can't use Interpret Sample Rate in the Waveform view because the SR selected would clash with the open session sample rate.

No further suggestions from me at the moment unfortunately.
