Question

Static and I dont know how to fix!

I recently got a new microphone, I've everything set up correctly and tried different wires.. When I tried to start recording today,  all I could hear was this terrible static noise. Even when I tried using the preset for "podcast voice," which is appropriate (as it's for a podcast) the noise persisted. While adjusting settings has helped reduce the static slightly, it hasn't completely eliminated it. I can still hear a hum when I speak. I've attached recordings of both the silence and my voice for reference. it also sounds really loud even when I change the volume on the track itself...Please help!

Need more information about your mic. What it sounds like here is that somewhere in your system there's something winding the mic gain right up between words- we call this agc, and it's obviously undesirable. It's not leads or anything like that causing this - It's something I. Your setup.

ahh okay intersting. So I am using an apple mac computer and the microphone is a TONER TC30 (condenser microphone) with a USB type-C to USB-A 2.0 Cable (cable also long- 200cm). Its on a shock/anti-vibration mount and also has a pop filter. The mic is also meant to be cardioid pattern- so technically it shouldnt have this issue. I have it plugged straight into the mac computer so its not on any additional connections.

Thankyou for your help

There should be some sort of control panel for the mic, but since this is on a mac, and I don't have one, I can't be of any more specific help about that. But it has to be at that point as there's nothing else between it and Audition.
