Static is played back from network file after being idle

Our normal work flow is to load up Audition with all the audio clips from a network share for the morning show a couple of hours prior to air.  During this time we are able to access all the files and line them up and they all playback fine.

When it's time to actually play the clip for the show there have been instances where when the operator hits play, instead of the proper audio being played, they hear digital static instead.

I reinstalled the OS and replaced the audio card and still having this issue.  We have begun moving the clips from the network share to the local computer and that's been working so far but it's strange that this has only begun happening.  No changes have happened on the network infrastructure or the server recently.

The issue only seams to happen when the files have been loaded onto Audition and idle for around an hour.

I have opened a support request with the server vendor but curious if there may be something in Audition that needs to be set properly.

A lot of people have trouble with accessing audio from servers - this really isn't a reliable way to do it. Your solution of moving the clips to the local machine is the generally accepted fix for this, I'm afraid. Have you been trying to play these clips in Multitrack or Waveform view?
