Question

Stop recording from the beginning when I hit the "move playhead to next" button and it hits the end

I record voiceover scripts for YouTube videos in Audition. And, because I need to make last-minute edits to my script when recording for smoothness frequently, I also frequently pause, edit, and move the playhead when recording. In previous versions, I have been able to click the "Move Playhead to Next" button (looks like an arrow pointing into a wall/line) and instantly start recording from my last point (the end of the waveform). But, in the most recent version, Adobe have changed it so that it starts recording my audio from the beginning, causing it to overwrite what I have already recorded/edited. It's a minor thing, but it is enraging to have to undo my accidental overwrite, click the playhead button, and then hit the left arrow key so that I can start recording. I have had this built into my muscle memory for at least a year and I hate to see it changed. Who needs this? Who needs to overwrite what they've already recorded at the beginning when fast forwarding to the end? At least make it an option, please.

I can only get this to happen if the 'Loop Playback' button - the one next to the Record button - is active. If it is, then recording always starts from the beginning of the file, regardless of anything else you do. If you switch it off, then it will behave as you are used to. But I have to say that it's not on by default... so nothing Adobe did, I'm afraid.

I did think of that shortly after posting this, but I swear I've had that option on in previous versions too. I'll turn it off. Thanks!
