Stops playing

After using CS6 for an hour or so it stops playing. It won't respond to the "play" button. I can do everything else, move clips, mixdown, etc, just no response to the "play" button on record or playback. I have to reboot for it to start functioning again. What's going on?  - jwells1233@aol.com

It's me, jwells1233 again. After my inquiry you see above, I was told by an advisor that I had to download and install the newest version of Audition, CC2020, which I did. After a few days using it, the same problem has returned. It won't play! It does everythig else, but no response from the play button (the arrow) when I try to play or record. I just spent a couple hundred bucks for CC2020. What's up?

The only thing that stops Audition playing - in other words, the transport doesn't move - is that for whatever reason, it is disconnected from your sound device. Often this happens if you leave Windows sounds activated; they will just take over, and hey presto! No Audition until you reconnect it. Go to Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware and see what it says there, for a start.
