support for low res audio....

Hi - I'm new to Audition (just installed today).  My company has a need for an audio editing app that supports very low sample rates (8-16 kHz).  Does the Audition audio engine support user-defined sample rates without automatically upsampling to 44.1/48 kHz like Logic etc?

As save options, yes. And if you are working with low rate saves, that's exactly the way you want it - start with the highest quality signals you can, and only convert them to a lower rate as the last move.

Audition works identically on Macs and PCs.

What if saving them all as: Same as Source?

"Same as Source" will do exactly what it says!  Only if you have started with the low sample rates that the OP refers to, which, for reasons that SteveG has made clear, is most definitely NOT a good idea at all, will the resulting files also be the same low sampling rate.

To be absolutely clear: if your "source" is 44.1 kHz, 16 bit, so will any file be that is saved as "Same as Source".

Question applies to both Mac and PC.  So far, it's not looking good for OSX...
