Template that keeps the imported files in the "files" window

Hello, quick Adobe Audition question:

is it possible to create a multitrack template that keeps the imported files in the "files" window. They seem to stay as imported if I put them on tracks, but without they are no longer available if I open the saved template.

Thanks.

No, I'm afraid you can't do that - for the simple reason that they aren't actually in the session at that point, and a session file does essentially what it says on the tin... yes of course this could be modified, but don't hold your breath.

Thank you for your reply.
I think it's a shame that on Premiere Pro, for example, it's possible to create projects with non-imported files in the timeline, but that the parallel isn't possible on Audition.

A couple of things: You have to bear in mind that Audition isn't like the rest of Adobe's software, which is in the main visually-based. It was essentially a bought-in product (Cool Edit) which had a huge existing user-base of radio production users, and over the years the developers have found that making changes to it causes howls of protest from them. Now, you might say that this isn't really a valid reason, and I'd agree with you - but nevertheless it's there... on top of that, the developers aren't allowed to change things at random. Changes are made on the basis of customer feedback - but we're talking about customers with seat figures running into the millions - not you and I. The only good news is that sometimes, suggestions that are made here are put to them, and if they agree, then it will happen. But that's rare. I think that one of the problems is that the people making the purchasing decisions aren't necessarily the end users, and that could mean a significant disconnect at the developement stage. We can't fix that.

The other issue is that the Audition development team is also now, I believe, responsible for the audio development across the entire Adobe product range. The implications of that are both positive and negative - I'm sure that you can work them out!
