Time selection Tool without moving play head?

Hello,

I have been podcast producing now for  a few years and love Audition.  Every once in a while I notice something that would drastically increase efficiency of editing.  I often edit in multitrack and use the time selection tool to eliminate audio by ripple deleting.

 I moslty do this very fast with keyboard shortcuts and is primarily used to trim dead space and tighten up the gaps.  As I have gotten more used to visually seeing these gaps, I've grown a huge desire to remove them while NOT moving the playhead to the start of the time seleciton.

In other words I want to be able to EDIT ahead of the playhead while letting the playhead run in real time.  I want to use the time selection tool both with and without it being attached to moving the playhead with it.

 I hope this makes sense and that this can become a discussion.  I would love to be able to listen and remove the gaps in real time at the same time but also be able to move the playhead with the cursor.
