Question

$ to raise vocals in a few live performance videos?

Hi folks,

I am Brandon out of Dallas Texas.  I recently paid someone to record a breif live performance.

The hired person sent the video and audio file back as an MP4.  However, the vocals are not loud enough because I plugged the mic into input 2 on the PA and the mixer with all the intruments into input 1 on the PA.

The hired person  recorded video straight out of the 2 XLR outs on the mixer, thus mainly recording all the intruments superbly, but the vocals are lacking since I had plugged the mic into input 2 on back of PA.

Does anyone here think they can successfully raise the vocals in the MP4 file a smidge without comprimising everything else?  I'd be happy to pay for it.  Please email me at <email address removed> or text me at <phone number removed> if you are interested.  Im VERY new to Audition and could not seem to make my desired results happen. Thanks a million yall and please get at me if you think you know how to do this with ease.  Godbless ; )

If you could dropbox a copy of the video file I would be happy to have a look at it both in Audition and Premiere.

Hello,

I think you should ask the Person you had hired to do that for you, because IMHO that is his/her job. And because you already found the right Support Community for Adobe Audition you knew what this program is for and so you can use it for your own to do that really easy job for yourself and so you also have nothing to pay.

All you have to do is open the File in Adobe Audition and then all you have to do then is turn the amplitude control up a little more until the whole thing is between -3 and -6 on the right scale (depending on whether the sound is consistently loud) that should be enough. Then listen to the whole thing and decide whether it should be a little more or a little less.

If the procedure isn't clear, there's in Audition under "Help" the Learning program you will find Tipps and you also can search for Tutorials on youtube & Co. Hope that helps.

regards,Henrik

I don't quite see how that helps him raise the vocal level above the instrumental level, which is what he is asking for - that would just raise the overall level. If it's lucky, and the vocal is central in a stereo field, then it may well be possible to raise it using the center channel extractor. But don't kid yourself - this isn't a straightforward job.

Because the other thing, of course, is that you won't be able to do the whole job in Audition, as it has no facility to lay the corrected audio back onto the MP4 file afterwards. Really, to get it right you should start and finish this job in Premiere, I think.
