Trying to open a .wav file, and keep getting Error Code: 65

I've looked around in the forum, and I haven't seen a post with this same error code. I'm just learning Audition- so please bear with me if this question is goofy!

I'm trying to open a .wav file that has a split track in it, because I want to pull the audio from just one of the tracks. But I can't get the file to open. I keep getting the following:

Error: This file is not supported by libsndfile.  Code: 65.  Error in WAV/W64/RF64 file. Malformed 'fmt ' chunk.

Is there something that I can do to fix this, or is this sort of file just not editable in Audition?

No it should open in Audition OK except for the 'Malformed 'fmt' chunk' bit, which is where the error lies. Where did the file come from/what was it recorded on?

I'm slightly intrigued by it needing to be opened with libsndfile. That's only usually necessary when you have a different format file in a wav container, or some other strange variation of file. When you try to open it, is 'All files' selected, and that's what it comes up with?
