Question

Unable to Arm Track for recording

I need to record a voiceover for a client (deadline today) but my main computer (2009 iMac) died just when I was finishing editing.
I'm trying to switch over to my backup machine (2009 Macbook Pro) which I have used in the past (and Audition has worked) to re-record but I'm unable to arm the track for recording. (I can import a file and playback okay.)

Audio from the mic is coming through the Scarlett 2i2 interface (colored ring lights up) and registers in System Prefs/Sound input meter, but the "I" button for Monitor Input is greyed out/dis-enabled.
Both channels are set to Scarlett 2i2 USB: Input 1 in Audio Channel Mapping. Default Input is Scarlett 2i2 USB in Audio Hardware. Inputs/Outputs is set to Scarlett 2i2 USB Input 1. (Screenshots attached.)

I can't think of what else to try. I've searched online and asked in two voiceover support groups but so far no answers. Seems like I had this same problem a few years ago but my memory is failing me as to what the solution was.

Chances are that on the second machine, the Apple security setting to allow Audition to use the mic input hasn't been enabled. If you go to the security settings, it should be easy to rectify this.

Thanks Steve. I've seen that solution. For what it's worth, I think it only applies on Maverick and later OS. I'm on 10.11.6 (El Capitan). I.e., "Microphone" is not listed under System Preferences/Security & Privacy/Privacy for me.

All of that being said, what I really need to say is, "Doh!"

Turns out that I've been using the keyboard shortcut "A" to arm the track for so long that  I forgot that "I" is not the button for arming the track — It's "R"!

I guess I was stressing out so much over the fact that my main computer died and I can't afford to buy a new one yet that I just wasn't thinking straight.

Anyway, thanks for your input. Now I'll go wipe the egg off my face!
