Unable to edit my narration after I record on Adobe Audition.

I have been having a problem with my Adobe Audition. After I record my chapter, I go back and edit it and when I start doing that it just freezes up. I start pulling the apart to do away with breathes and little noises to delete and it just freezes up. Anyone have any idea what is causing this?

I am on an HP desktop and using Windows 10. I also have Office 365. I was going to use the one drive to store my narration for my audiobooks, but I think that was the problem. I deleted it, because I got to thinking about it and when I downloaded the app, that was when my problems started.  I used it a little last night after deleting the One Drive and it seemed to be working fine. If it does not do the trick, then I will be back on here with more info and needing help. I was out of my studio today. Thank you so much for answering.

One thing we have learned since its inception is that under no circumstances can you successfully edit anything if you are pulling it directly from any form of remote storage where you have no direct control of the transmission path - i.e. any form of cloud storage at all. It's fine to use an external drive on your PC, but only as long as it's connected by USB, SATA or at a pinch on a local storage network, although even this isn't always trouble-free.

Cloud storage is fine to use as a backup, but that's all. If you want to edit material stored there, then the only reliable way to do this is to download it onto your machine and edit the local copy. Then when you've finished, copy it back again.

We need to know a lot more info about how your system is set up in order to be able to help. Which version of Audition on what type of computer and operating system? What audio interface and drivers are you using? If it is just that playback stops or freezes then it is likely to be a soundcard set up problem.
