Question

Unable to launch Audition by double-clicking audio files within Dropbox folder.

Hello,

I use dropbox desktop app at work and at home so I can edit audio files from either location.  I have been working this way for several years, but since upgrading to Audition 2019 this has stopped working.  It works from any other local folder as well as Network drives, but since upgrading to Audition 2019, I cannot open audio (wav/mp3) files from within my local dropbox folder by double-clicking the file.  My home computer has Audition 2018 and this option continues to work at home.

I can open audition first, then open the file that way.  I can also copy the file to my desktop and double-click to open and edit it.  But both of those approaches take extra time, which in radio I do not always have.

Audition is already set as my default app in Windows 10 for audio files.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

-Bryan

@brian_radio having same exact issue. I've tried everything to fix - nothing works. Did you find a resolution?

Right-click on a file of the type you wish to open in the Dropbox folder, click on Properties and you'll get an option to change the app it opens with. Works fine here - I just updated mine.

I've done that and it still doesn't open the file.  It launches the app, but doesn't open the file.  And only in the dropbox folder.  Very strange.

I checked it again - double-clicking on a file in Dropbox starts Audition, and opens the file. I've set it to open wav and mp3 files directly, and it opens both fine. Are you running Audition as an Administrator user? Not doing so has been known to cause a few issues...
