Unable to .wav file in Audition CC 2019, CC 2018 or CS6

So I have these WAV files. They were recorded by somebody using unknown equipment. But I have them now and need to edit them. Problem is, they don't open in Audition (not CC 2019, CC218, or CS6.) First, I get this:

When I hit OK, it opens to a 0:00-long blank file. Now, when I open it in something terrible like Audacity, it opens just fine. How embarrassing!

Anyone know what's up with that, or how to fix it (besides re-saving it from with Audacity, etc.)?
