Uninstalling iLok has caused Audition to slow to a crawl when using VST plugins

Recently installed a trial of the Sugar plugin and it required iLok to run. Didn't have a use for the plugin so removed it and uninstalled iLok, and now my Audition has slowed to a crawl when opening/exporting.

Anyone else have this experience? I've actually uninstalled audition and ALL VST plugins and reinstalled and the issue persists.

Even though you've removed the plugin, does it still show in Audition's Audio Plugin Manager? You might either need to rescan that, or if it's there, take the check out of it so it's not enabled. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think that this is rescanned automatically...

It doesn't and the system has been wiped of dll's but if there's something in the registry still looking for ilok then that may be the issue. It's 100% has something to do with ilok, i just don't know what.

I have no idea why iLok removal would do this. Does it affect other software too? Audition has nothing whatsoever to do with iLok, so it's likely to be a system issue of some sort, especially as it's affecting I/O. You could try re-installing iLok, of course - just to see if this restores normality. If it does, then leave it there and contact iLok about it, I'd say.

iLok controls the license for the plugins, thus directly interfaces with Audition's operation since it has to scan the plugins on open and if one is using iLok then that has to be (what should be quickly) verified for a valid license. The hangup seems to be in it still attempting verification even though the product is no longer installed.

Might try reinstalling it tho because you're right, that may enable a "cleaner" uninstall.
