Question

Virtual Instrument Integration?

Hello,

I am enquiring to see if Adobe is planning to integrate virtual instruments and midi capabilities into its platform.  I love Audition and feel that they have an opportunity to become a leader in the music production and composition market.  I am a music educator and would love to use Audition as my primary DAW for myself and teaching music production/composition courses.  Unfortunately, I cannot due to the lack of virtual instruments and midi integration.  Thanks in advance for your insight.

Sincerely,

PB

This question has been asked loads of times, and the answer is always the same. Even if Adobe was minded to do this (which I don't think they are) they wouldn't tell anybody in advance; that's the way they roll. Also, you have to bear in mind that Adobe removed what MIDI Audition had back in version 3, and there were at least two reasons for that. Firstly it was essentially a beta feature, and at that time they wouldn't have beta features in a product release (they still don't, effectively, which is why beta releases are separate). The second was the significant one though. The people with the large numbers of seats (6-7 figures) didn't regard it as important, and as it's them that are paying the salaries, not a few musicians, then it's them that get to call the development shots - even though some of the developers would actually like to do it.

And that's before any of the other considerations, mostly based around the fact that Adobe would always be playing catch-up if they introduced anything like this now - there's no way they'd be a market leader. So development is based around Adobe's strengths, which are basically visual; hence the gradually increasing integration with Premiere, etc.
