Voice disappears in Audition!

Hi,

I am fairly new using audition and I encountered a problem that I can't seem to solve. While editing a video I needed to remove some background noises and soundtrack from a clip since I am only using the voice of the narrator. However when clicking edit with Audition the only thing that plays in Audition is the soundtrack and the noises (so basically, everything that I want to remove). There is no voice whatsoever, the narrator is completely gone.

Why is this happening and what can I do to solve it?

Thanks in advance for any help

Don't think so, seems to be Mono.

There is a chance you have a stereo track with the left and right out of phase, anything panned center ,like the voice will disappear if listening in mono. This is an often seen problem in the Premiere forum and it is caused usually by an incorrectly wired cable when going from xlr to stereo min jack.

We really need  to know a lot more about your system and what your workflow has been so far to lead to this result. Is it a mono, stereo or twin track audio file? How was it recorded?

Is this when you open the audio file into Audition? How are you getting the audio into Audition? Are you opening the video in Audition and having Audition extract the audio? Which version of Audition and on what computer platform?

I have an mp4 movie that I am re-editign on Premiere. I unlink the audio from the video and in Premiere I hear everything voice and soundtrack but when I click edit in audition it only plays the soundtrack, the narrator voice is gone. So, I am doing everything on Premiere and I am trying to edit just a small portion of the movie.

I am using the latest version of premiere and audition on an MacBook 10.10.5

So are the voice and soundtrack on different audio tracks in Premiere?
