WAV File Noise Reduction Removal Undone in Multi-track

  1. I recorded a WAV file in Adobe Audition
  2. I removed the breathing noise (Effects/Noise Reduction/Noise Capture/Apply)
  3. I confirmed the sound was removed by replaying the WAV file.
  4. I saved the WAV File.
  5. I exported it and renamed it, just to be on the safe side to make sure it was really removed.
  6. I played the exported file in my Windows default audio player and confirmed the breathing noise was removed.
  7. I opened Adobe Audition and created a new Multi-Track / Podcast template
  8. I opened the exported WAV file in my multi-track session.
  9. I pulled the exported WAV file into the host section of the podcast. It LOOKS like the breathing is gone because the audio line is completely flat between sentences. But, when I play it...
  10. The breathing is back!!!  The sounds that I removed weren't REALLY removed? They were still included in the file after I exported it?

I called tech support. They said, "It happens sometimes."

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong so that this doesn't happen sometimes?

Could it not be the Podcast template's odd compression settings that are adding back sounds you thought you had removed? Does it sound ok it you use a non template multitrack?

Good point...

Sarah, if you are using the Podcast template, then absolutely the best thing to do is to remove it - it causes nothing but grief because of the wierd settings it uses.

It shouldn't do that, and it's never done it for me!

What I'd suggest is that if you want to be really sure, then use Save As, give it a slightly different name, close it, reopen it, make sure it's okay and use that in the multitrack. If it's still wrong after that, then report back.
