Waveform from green to gray

In an effort to paste an audio clip into my current audio file (command + v), my finger accidentally pressed *possibly* option or control (I'm using a MacBook Pro & the latest version of Audition). As a result, the waveform in my file turned gray. I could not edit it in any way, nor could I paste the clip after multiple attempts. Does anyone know what happened?

I don't know exactly what you've done (it's a Mac...) but if you have the entire waveform grey it means that it's been deselected. Try Edit>Enable Channels>All Channels.
