Question

Wavering guitar playback

I've been using Adobe Audition since it was Cool Edit and I'm currently using CS6. I record my own music - acoustic guitar and voice. I go through a TC Helicon Play Acoustic to a Mackie ProFx8 mixer which serves as a digital interface with my iMac.

I separate voice and guitar at the mixer, then multitrack in Audition to get the mix.

A number of my songs mixed this way end up with wavering, warbling guitar tracks. The voice seems fine but the guitar is just awful. Is there something I can do to keep that from happening, or something I'm doing that causes to happen?

Thanks

Well, Audition is notoriously good at recording exactly what gets sent to it from your sound device - so in order to progress this any further, we need two things: Firstly to know what the exact recording chain is, and secondly, a link to a sample of what you're talking about; this will make it a lot easier to analyse. You need to use something like DropBox and a public link to a file - the forum won't let you post samples directly.

    +1 for what Steve said.

However, if you want a quick place to look, I'd be checking the TC Helicon Play Acoustic to see if some special effect has somehow crept in.  From memory it can so some tremolo/vibrato effects that could do the sort of thing you're describing.
