When and how top apply Match Loudness

Question

Hi. I'm working on a podcast and I have doubts about when to apply Match Loudness. Considering that volume levels on the multitrack session are consistent, should I apply it to each track individually or leave to the end an apply it to the mix on the whole? Thanx!

Do you actually need to apply it at all? If you have consistent levels, and the whole thing sounds balanced, then I'd question the need for it at all. If you have individual tracks, then using your ears (and perhaps the automation system to make any adjustments) will always give you a better result. With the best will in the world, no automated loudness algorithm is any replacement for a pair of ears!
