Question

When I press play in Adobe Audition 2020 the audio peaks

This only started a couple days ago - but when I hit play during a wavform in Audition a loud peaking noise happens. It doesn't come up in the finished recording but it's more a problem with my poor ears in my headphones. Checked with audio playing out of my speakers as well and it does it too.

Anyone experienced this and have any advice how to fix it?

On a Mac? If so - do you have any particular Audio Unit(s) Plugins instantiated in the Audition Effects Rack? Read for further insight: https://community.adobe.com/t5/audition/chiming-in-on-issues-with-au-plugins/m-p/11039378?page=1#M21979

It might be buffer trouble - go to Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware and try increasing the size of it. Even if this only alters the problem, we'll get a bit more of a clue...

If this is in Error please state the exact Adobe program you are asking about.
