Why do my vocals jump up and around before I add autotune?

I'm trying to record a track and just recently downloaded Audition. When I create a new audio file and record, if i jump up pitch just slightly then it jumps up more as if there was already autotune. I'm trying to record pure natural vocals and for whatever reason they are enhanced the second I record them? Does anybody have a fix for this.. maybe it's in some settings I don't yet know about? Help is appreciated!

Are you using one of Audition's ready made Templates to start your Audition Multitrack session? If so some of them are already set up with effects that you might use for that type of recording but that you may not want. It is best you start with a basic Stereo session and add tracks and effects as you need them.
