Question

Why does mixed file lack of certain track's sound?

I just subsrcibed Audition CC on WIn10 and this is my first project of mixing songs. I have three tracks in the multitrack view session, one backing music and two voices. They sound good in the multitrack view. I mixed all session into a new file. But the mixed file has only one track of voice.

Note I have three output hardware options and they are changed pretty frequently based on how my laptop is connected to. One is System sound from laptop, one is USB Jabra and one is the sound through TV, via HDMI connection.

What can be worng between what I hear in the multitrack and the mixed file? Isn't that should be the same?

To make it a little more complicated, I had other cases where the Audition CC can't play all the sound in the mixed file but other software CAN or using a different output hardware! REMEMBER in each case, they all sound perfectly in multitrack view, just the mixed file can't be heard correctly.

It looks like the missing track sound in the mixed file is from a track with a name of Bounce_6 which is the track inserted when I made a bounce to new track. Does it altomatically inserted into the session? I would think so, but when I mix the whole session with all other tracks muted, there is no sound in the mixed file. This tells me that thi track is not included in the seesion. Mix with selected clips has no sound either. The only way to get the sound mixed is to bounce to another track. Then when I mix all session, the sound is included.

So, I guess somehow the Bouce_6 track was crippled, on the property panel, it says Bounce_6, but the track file name is Bounce_4 and when I double click the clip, in the Waveform view, it shows a file name I gave it. This was the first bouced track I had and I remember after I renamed it, the name on the track did not change. I probably moved files between different bounced tracks based on the name.

I am pretty sure I hit a bug because of my exploration ways of using the multitrack. Can someone confirm it and give a nice way out of this situation or to prevent it from happening again?

Before you go any further, you should be aware that you will only get output from tracks that are routed either directly or indirectly to the Master output. Depending upon the way your monitoring is set up, it's possible that you will hear perfectly fine playback in multitrack (depending upon how your actual outputs are routed) but without the routing being correct for mixdowns.

I'm not aware of any situations in which Multitrack routing has been found to be in error when set up according to the rules, so it's very likely to be something you've done.

Glad to hear a respone! I did not setup anything myself for the master output. Where is it?

I can check that out. Thanks for the tip!
