Question

With 2020 Version, Soundfloor Suddenly Too High

Hi, 

 

My soundfloor has gone from -60 to the mid -40s. Please help! Nothing has changed except the upgrade. I tried tweaking the gate on my interface to no avail.

Adobe can only record what it's sent from your interface, so it won't be the software itself causing this. If it was, we'd all know about that by now!

 

What's more likely is that the new version hasn't picked up the same audio device settings as the previous version. For instance, if you previously had the ASIO driver installed (which is the one you should be using if you can), and the program reverted to the MME one with the record volume set high - well that would cause it. Or the same scenario the other way around - low level set with the MME driver and ASIO behaving as it should. But you haven't told us what interface you are using - that would be a bit of a help...

Dear Sir,

Thank you for writing back! With your answer I was able to sleuth, and realized that the Focusrite has chosen the microphone on my new, $50 webcam, over my Sennheiser 416. So while I'm wrestling with undoing that for a 5:30 pm call, I wanted to thank you very much for your help.
