workflow for editing audio track of video?

I have a narrated screencast that I recorded with Screenflow, then I recorded audio for a Keynote presentation that includes the screencast and exported that from Keynote as a movie.

 

I brought the MP4 file into Audition to clean up the audio. After noise reduction I got the message that I need to save the audio track as a new separate file. After I save it is it possible to see the video from the original file while continuing to work with the audio in the new file?

You won't be able to save out the audio to the vidoe file, like Steve says, when you're done.

 

It's better to start out in Premiere Pro if you can with your MP4 clip. You can then right click the audio clip and select "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition". You'll then be able to make your changes in Audition, save and then it'll auto update back in Premiere Pro. You can then export your new video file with ease.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to put both audio tracks into a multitrack session and mute the one you don't want to hear. But I should warn you that the thing you won't be able to do is recombine the cleaned-up audio back into the MP4 file, replacing the original - Audition won't do that (being essentially an audio editor...)
