Wrong speed playing reel to reel 7.5 i.p.s when transferring to digital file, how to adjust the file

Question

I played Reel to Reel tapes (10 inch) 1/4", 7.5 i.p.s. and recorded them in a Digital format using a Teac USB AD-RW900 on its USB device. Then I tranferred the songs to Adobe AU as Audio Files.

The problem is that the Reel to Rell machine (Tascam32) was not tuned to the correct speed for playing, so the recondings I have are with a different pich due to the speed.

As I am processing these original songs with Adobe AU, I need to know if there is a function that stretches the mutitrack file in time but at the same time modifies the pitch accordingly, as if it was played faster on an analog device.

Firstly, yes there is. You can do this with Stretch and Pitch effect in Waveform view:

You have two choices when setting it up. If you know the time accurately, you can leave it just as the screengrab, only with the correct time inserted at the top. If you want to set it by pitch, then take out the check in the first section, which will un-grey the second one, where you can set the result by pitch. If you leave the check in the box to lock them, you'll achieve the result you want.

Secondly though, you've not got it quite correct; if you stretch a file in time, it will have the effect of it playing slower, not faster! (Think about it... 😉 )
