Announcing a new feature now in Adobe Camera Raw (17.2) – Removal of Distracting People

Under the Remove dialog, under Distraction Removal, we have added an item called “People”.

This feature supports faster and easier detection and removal of distracting people in an image. It is offered as a Tech Preview in the Adobe Camera Raw Plugin-only and is available now. Please try it out and let us know what works well, what doesn’t work well, and anything that might improve the experience.

Thank you!

It wuld be much better if you could not only remove, but also add distracting people. Very often Lightroom doesn't detect any distracting people...

It is pretty good at detecting the people. However, i just ran it and it detected a distracting person in the background only to replace it with another distracting person. It needs to just remove the people.

Removed lots of people in the front of Hallgrimskirkja church in Iceland, but also removed the side bases of the statue which looks weird.  Also made a post into a cement thing.  Found the people and did get rid of them, but the pic is not usable like that (not that it was usable before either).

Hey,

It could be very useful if we had the possibility to enhance the area detected by the IA in order to only remove people.

Sometimes it works great, but it frequently hallucinates when tasked with removing many targets. It had a dozen people identified, but replaced a few with these distinguished Londoners

A few more attempts led to all kinds of different hallucinations. Interestingly enough, the AI placed these generated people at the same spot and in the same configuration ( pair, one, one)

wish you could erase from detecting people. it is slighlt going over an object in my picture and erases it

I had flawless performance on this on my latest photo. Ive used it several times before, and each time it was pretty good, but this time the first try was astounding. (see before and after below) Wow, I am impressed!!

Yes when it works it's like magic. But then you come across a scene that makes you bang your head against a wall.
plus - editing hundreds of photos per shoot, I wish it would produce more consistent results across similar images with how it renders the space the people or objects were removed from.
in acr, it will produce totally different results across a batch of 20 similar photos at a time. Some get replaced with weird looking 'people', other animals or out of place trees. Regardless it's almost impossible to use with consistency.

when it works though - it's oh so good and extremely time saving.
