Announcing a new feature now in Adobe Camera Raw (17.2) – Removal of Distracting People

Under the Remove dialog, under Distraction Removal, we have added an item called “People”.

This feature supports faster and easier detection and removal of distracting people in an image. It is offered as a Tech Preview in the Adobe Camera Raw Plugin-only and is available now. Please try it out and let us know what works well, what doesn’t work well, and anything that might improve the experience.

Thank you!

Doesn't select all people and there is no way to select those that are not selected.

I am using this people removal tool in Lightroom Classic.  When the people are small, it does a rather poor job of identifying them and there is no "Add" or "Subtract" option.  All you can do is regenerate those that are already identified.  I can do better using the old methods.

The feature also distorts text on signs near people, even though they were not marked in red (only slightly at the edges) – in my example, the name of a train station.

I would like to have more control in selecting who I want left in the photo and who should be taken out. I tried clicking on the pin and trashing but the pin included about 4 people and some benches. I only wanted the benches to stay in. So it would be good to have more control over this.

Thanks for your response, but that wasn't my issue. When I was working in
Lightroom, the Distraction Removal removed all of the people properly. When
I exported the image as a jpg, the people were all back in the resulting
image.

I "removed" people walking down the street. The Remove process created four groups, and the removal seemed to work. However, when I went back to the library and exported this photo as a jpg to my Mac, the people returned.

There are times when it works, but most of the time it adds inappropriate and unwanted details and needs to be deleted again.
