Announcing a new feature now in Adobe Camera Raw (17.2) – Removal of Distracting People

Under the Remove dialog, under Distraction Removal, we have added an item called “People”.

This feature supports faster and easier detection and removal of distracting people in an image. It is offered as a Tech Preview in the Adobe Camera Raw Plugin-only and is available now. Please try it out and let us know what works well, what doesn’t work well, and anything that might improve the experience.

i followed the instructions correctly, yet the person I tried to remove was replaced with a different person.

wish I could have tested this earlier before release. It works "ok" with obvious people in the background, but if the people are close to the subject, it will not detect and even if they are selected manually, it does not generate a removal properly

I used the remove feature and it selected the correct people to remove. When it removed them a person was added. I have cropped to the photo to not include the people I wanted to keep and shows the addeded person. I reset the adjustment and repeated the Removed and the same child was added.

Hi Peter!
Thanks for creating a tool that will remove "distracting people". I tried it with a picture taken at Disneyworld. However, the Distraction Removal did not provide the results as in your example. It was very selective and only removed some, not all. After that, I could not use the tool again to remove more people. I wish there was a way to select more people if the tool doesn't find them. I hope this helps for feedback.
btw. Is there a Flash fill feature? If not, maybe a new project to consider? Thanks!

Please add the ability to easily add to the mask. Often times it gets all the people but leaves one little thing I don't want. It would be great if I could get that out then, instead of having to remove the people then go back and do another removal to get rid of the little thing I didn't want.

Ik heb deze nieuwe toepassing nu een aantal malen toegepast, in de meeste gevallen overtuigend. van één tot 4 á 5 personen werkt het prima. Graspollen worden ook soms gezien als personen, deze zijn eenvoudig te verwijderen. Persoonlijk denk ik dat het aantal MB's van de camera er toe doet.

First time using this feature: very poor results with minimal discernible difference in the photo. Disappointed!

tem varios problemas nessa ferramenta de remoção de pessoas ao fundo da foto, um problema é que não faz a mascara nas pessoas antes de remove-las. outro ponto é que não sincroniza a remoção com varias fotos, tenho que fazer foto por foto essa remoção, e as vezes se perde a remoção que havia feito.... e preciso refazer.... outro ponto aproveitando, a remoção de ruido por IA não funciona mais, ele processa a imagem e depois da um erro. Vocês tem que testar essas ferramentas antes de lançar em uma nova atualização... isso acaba atrapalhando muito o nosso fluxo de trabalho com esses erros! lancem uma correção para esses problemas urgente! obrigado!
