For a complete overview of camera support in Photoshop and Lightroom, visit the following article:

Why doesn't my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

  1. Make sure your version of Photoshop or Lightroom is updated for the latest camera support.
  2. If you own an older version of Photoshop or Lightroom, Adobe provides backward compatibility for the latest cameras through the FREE Adobe DNG Converter.

Note: ETAs for specific cameras are not available

Hello everyone,
New Sony A7v:  I can't import images taken in Raw  Compressed Raw and HQ Compressed Raw, which are not recognized by Camera Raw 18.2, LrC, or Ps2026.

Has anyone else noticed the same thing?
(Additional question: I thought, perhaps incorrectly, that Raw Compressed HQ was lossless... is that right?)
Thanks!

UPDATE March 6, 2026: In collaboration with Sony, Lightroom is targeting support for the new Compressed (HQ) and Compressed RAW formats introduced with the Sony A7V in the April Lightroom release.

I am unable to open ARW files from Sony A7 V (ILCE-7M5) in Photoshop or Lightroom Classic.

System:

  • Camera: Sony A7 V (ILCE-7M5)

  • Firmware: 1.00

  • File format: ARW (Compressed and Lossless tested)

  • Camera Raw version: 18.2 (2482)

  • Photoshop: 26.11.2 (arm64)

  • Lightroom Classic: 15.2

  • macOS: 26.2.0

  • Hardware: Apple M4 (ARM)

Problem:
Opening ARW files results in:
“Could not open [filename].ARW because the file-format module cannot parse the file.”

The same files:

  • Open correctly in Sony Imaging Edge Desktop

  • Show embedded preview in macOS Finder

  • Are ~24–25 MB in size

  • Are not corrupted (verified on camera playback at 100%)

DNG Converter also fails with:
“There was an error parsing the file.”

Camera is officially listed as supported from Camera Raw 18.1.1.

This appears to be a RAW header parsing failure specific to ILCE-7M5 on Apple M4 / ARM build.

Please advise if this is a known issue.

My bad, sorry. I’m not a Sony user (not an Adobe employee) so not aware of the ‘compressed file’ problem, and the Supported Camera link does not specify that file compression might be limited to HQ compression.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

@Rob_Cullen all good only Lossless compression is currently supported by Lightroom but they’ve historically never had issues with RAW compressed on any other Sony ecosystem (coming from A7R3 & A7S3) this is the first ecosystem Adobe is taking forever to accommodate users

What software are you using?

The A7V is supported in v9.1 of Lightroom-Desktop, v15.1 of Lightroom-Classic, and v18.1.1 Adobe Camera Raw.

Please update your software to support Sony A7V I am embarrassed to use an editing software tool that isn’t updated almost a month later from when a new camera releases. Adobe is supposed to be the leader in photo editing software and there are other smaller companies that are better than you right now

The Sony A7V was released in December 2, 2025 and Adobe still doesn't support RAW files in Lightroom!

I know you guys work hard, but come on, 3 months after release, still no full support of the A7V. It’s not like we don’t pay every month. This new Lightroom release is really a bummer. I do not know who’s to blame the most, Adobe or Sony here, but both of you are getting a bad rep. Are we going to have to wait for another 3 months? I love Lightroom, I’ve used it for 10 years now, but I sure am not going to wait for 3 months.
