5.5 Project to Version 8 > Publish to Video creates a pixelated blurry .mp4

I created a project in Captivate 5.5. I then opened it in Captivate 8 and published as a video (.mp4). The entire .mp4 video is a blurred and pixelated mess. I then created the same project in version 8 and published to video and it worked fine. I have a bunch of my 5.5 projects that I need to open in 8 and publish as a video. Why in the world is it making them all pixelated and blurry. There is no reason for it. I recorded the software simulation the same way in 5.5 as in 8. The screen shots are the exact same size and all. What is the deal Adobe? I have been using Captivate since version 2 and have encountered so many bugs and issues that I'm ready to throw in the towel and quit using it. It takes me forever to finish a project due to all these small issues such as this.

Upgrading over so many versions will mostly cause that kind of issues. Publishing has been revamped, themes have been added, Video Demo has been added.

This is a user forum, I'm just a user like you. Did you try to copy/paste the slides to an original CP8 file? What were the slide quality settings in the original files? Do you have FMR-slides? What was the quality (16- or 32-bit)?

Since you are publishing to video, this must be a non-interactive project. This is bit weird for a software 'simulation', I suspect you mean a demo?

Another work flow could be to play the published video with CP5.5 and capture it with the Video Demo functionality that you have now. Its quality is much better.

The MP4 export is horrible, up to version 8 (which is what I am using). I am truly disappointed that someone in Quality Assurance approved a feature as "HD output" with what is being provided. When I used 5 or 6 on the Mac, the video export to .MOV was wonderful. I used them to make supplemental classroom DVDs.

I have had pretty good success with exporting to .SWF and then running it through a 3rd party converter to .MOV or .MP4. The software is "iPixSoft SWF to Video Converter" and costs about $70. There are others on the market that offer similar functions. What I like about this one is that any interactivity doesn't stop or confuse the conversion. It must be run in "manual" mode, which is laborious, but it works.

Just for anyone that may come along and find this post later, note that there is no way to output an MP4 and maintain any type of interactivity.

What was mentioned was that the iPixSoft SWF to Video Converter doesn't balk at interactivity being present. It DOES NOT MEAN that interactivity will be PRESERVED and end up in the final MP4 file. It's simply not possible to achieve.

Cheers... Rick

Your suggestion of copying the slides from the project to a new blank project worked. Thanks for the suggestion. Weird that this fix worked but I'll take it.
